This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Create protection and control design packages for renewable energy substations, which encompass single-line diagrams (SLDs), three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, wiring/connection diagrams, and layouts for relay and protection panels.
• Design collector and interconnection substation P&C systems independently, implementing suitable protection philosophies.
• Modify designs in dynamic development settings with limited or changing information.
• Generate high-quality AutoCAD Electrical and Substation Design Suite (SDS) drawings that adhere to Revamp standards.
• Collaborate with teams specializing in physical substation, civil, structural, and power systems to produce integrated design packages.
• Evaluate subconsultant outputs for technical accuracy, quality, and alignment with schedules.
• Assist in client interactions for various projects within a portfolio.
• Articulate design assumptions and address technical feedback effectively.
• Act as a technical liaison for initial P&C scope discussions.
• Work with project managers to ensure alignment of client deliverables.
• Confirm that documentation meets utility interconnection requirements and client standards.
• Independently apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Utilize experienced personnel for clear design direction when necessary.
• Analyze and resolve complex substation P&C design challenges.
• Ensure adherence to company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and regulations.
• Recognize and propose enhancements for templates, workflows, and design efficiency.
• Develop work plans for assigned tasks.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff as appropriate.
• Fulfill essential responsibilities such as meeting deliverables and deadlines.
• Undertake additional related tasks as assigned.
• An associate’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Over 5 years of pertinent experience in substation Protection & Control design.
• Advanced skills in AutoCAD, particularly AutoCAD Electrical, for the creation of production-level drawings.
• Proven experience in developing: Single-line diagrams (SLDs), Three-line diagrams, AC and DC schematics, and wiring diagrams, along with Protection & Control (P&C) design documentation.
• Familiarity with high-voltage substation equipment and protection philosophies.
• A high degree of independence balanced with the discretion to seek guidance when necessary.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for engaging with clients.
• Well-organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing assignments with quick turnaround times.
