This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.
• Develop design packages for substations tailored to clients throughout the United States.
• Generate deliverables related to electrical protection and control design.
• Assist in preparing, guiding on, or contributing to drawing packages for electric substation initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance to clients and serve as a technical resource to support regional business development efforts.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and drafters on intricate electrical design tasks for utility substation projects.
• Lead teams of designers and drafters, taking ownership of project outcomes.
• Support pre-bid site visits with clients.
• Prepare, assess, and approve proposals and project cost estimates.
• Create precise substation drawings based on engineering inputs, existing drawings, and scope documents.
• Modify or generate drawings related to substation protection and control.
• Mentor designers while training and developing less-experienced team members.
• Prepare new drawing packages, revise current packages, and finalize as-built documents.
• Conduct quality reviews and peer evaluations of substation design drawings and packages.
• Collaborate with the Project Management team to formulate project plans and supply project updates.
• Undertake additional substation design-related tasks as required.
• High School Diploma.
• Position level will be based on the candidate's experience.
• Designer I: Requires 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Designer II: Requires 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Senior Designer I: Requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in drafting and detailing using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Strong understanding of NESC, IEEE, and other pertinent codes and standards.
• Familiarity with drafting standards, techniques, and procedures.
• Proficient in manipulating vector and raster drawing files in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Capability to create or adjust drawings based on markups with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and competing priorities to deliver accurate products punctually.
• Capacity to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
• Experience in creating and reviewing substation design drawings.
• Proficiency with current software applications utilized for substation design tasks.
• Ability to effectively work with team members located in remote areas.
• Must pass a post-offer drug test, including for marijuana, and alcohol test in accordance with Federal regulations.
