Substation Protection & Control Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Tennessee.

📋 Description

• Develop relay and protection as well as control projects for high-voltage substations ranging from 12kV to 500kV under the guidance of the Electrical Project Lead.

• Create substation relay one-line and three-line diagrams.

• Generate AC/DC schematics.

• Design substation panel layouts.

• Draft substation wiring diagrams and cable schedules.

• Develop SCADA and communication diagrams.

• Prepare point-to-point wiring diagrams.

• Collaborate with physical, settings, and drafting teams to guarantee high-quality deliverables.

• Analyze and integrate vendor information into design outputs.

• Implement client standards throughout project work.

• Conduct and verify that QA/QC processes are adhered to within design packages.

• Continuously enhance job-related engineering, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and overall performance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate's degree or High School Diploma.

• Experience in substation (transmission) design.

• Over 1 year of detailed wiring design experience, including the development of single lines, schematics, and relay panels.

• More than 1 year of experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Inventor, and MicroStation.

• Proficient understanding of AC/DC control diagrams to accurately execute point-to-point wiring requirements.

• Capability to assist lead engineers with initial design specifications.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word.

• Familiarity with NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.

• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles essential for creating technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States.
