This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Create new and revise existing civil site plan drawings for substations.
• Develop plans for grading, drainage, and stormwater management.
• Formulate erosion and sediment control plans in compliance with local and state regulations.
• Prepare layouts for roadways, access drives, and site configurations.
• Execute earthwork grading and cut/fill balancing utilizing Civil 3D or OpenRoads/MicroStation workflows.
• Conduct AutoTURN analyses to ensure access for construction and maintenance vehicles.
• Design utility layouts, including storm sewer, sanitary, and water service plans as necessary.
• Assemble permit-ready civil drawing packages for utility and agency review.
• Aid in the creation of permitting exhibits and support environmental and jurisdictional permitting processes.
• Collaborate with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and substation electrical teams.
• Review civil-related vendor drawings and integrate feedback as needed.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs and the preparation of project deliverables.
• Implement relevant client standards, local agency requirements, and industry best practices in all tasks.
• Level 3: Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
• Level 3: At least 2 years of civil site design experience using MicroStation.
• Level 4: Associate’s degree or technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting Technology, or a related field.
• Level 4: Minimum of 3 years of civil site design experience using MicroStation.
• Strong proficiency with MicroStation (mandatory).
• Experience in developing civil site plans for utility, industrial, commercial, or municipal projects.
• Working knowledge of grading design and earthwork calculations.
• Experience in preparing erosion and sediment control plans.
• Familiarity with stormwater management principles and permitting requirements.
• Experience performing AutoTURN vehicle turning analyses.
• Understanding of site development permitting processes and interaction with agencies.
• Ability to interpret survey and geotechnical data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong attention to detail and dedication to producing high-quality deliverables.
• Experience supporting electric utility substation projects is preferred.
• Familiarity with utility client standards is preferred.
• Experience with HEC-RAS, Hydraflow, HydroCAD, or similar hydrology software is preferred.
• Knowledge of SWPPP preparation and stormwater permitting requirements is preferred.
• Experience coordinating with local, county, and state permitting agencies is preferred.
