This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Serve as the global technical expert for the design and implementation of cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
• Convert approved High-Level Designs, reference architectures, and strategic technology requirements into detailed Low-Level Designs and technical specifications that are ready for implementation.
• Identify implementation strategies, design patterns, technical controls, infrastructure configurations, and operational requirements while adhering to architectural guidelines.
• Make informed technical choices regarding standards, technology selection, design exceptions, and non-standard infrastructure needs.
• Provide technical advice during significant incidents, complex platform modifications, service recovery efforts, and major infrastructure projects.
• Evaluate technical solutions for availability, resilience, disaster recovery, security, observability, supportability, and cost efficiency.
• Act as the essential technical approval gate for cloud infrastructure modifications prior to CAB review.
• Approve or reject technical changes based on compliance, risk, quality, supportability, security, and readiness for implementation.
• Review technical designs, implementation strategies, rollback plans, verification activities, and associated change documentation.
• Enforce cloud platform standards across networking, identity management, security, segmentation, naming conventions, tagging, observability, backup, disaster recovery, and operational controls.
• Oversee technical exceptions and promote continuous improvement through reusable design patterns, enhancement of standards, and automation efforts.
• Ensure that internal and managed service provider implementations adhere to approved designs, specifications, quality standards, and acceptance criteria.
• Engage in architecture reviews, governance forums, supplier performance evaluations, operational reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Communicate technical risks, options, trade-offs, governance outcomes, and the rationale behind decisions to technical stakeholders and senior management.
• Maintain audit-ready technical artifacts, design documentation, implementation records, evidence packs, runbooks, governance documentation, and service records.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Architecture, Cyber Security, engineering teams, country IT departments, and managed service providers.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Cloud Computing, or Technology Management.
• Over 8 years of experience in cloud operations or engineering within a regulated change environment (ITIL or equivalent).
• Significant hands-on experience in creating and reviewing High-Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs) while providing technical design assurance for CAB/change control.
• Proven experience in defining and enforcing technical standards and reference architectures.
• Experience in validating designs against non-functional requirements across AWS and Azure.
• Experience in ensuring vendor- or managed-service-delivered changes through well-defined requirements, acceptance criteria, and evidence-based decision-making.
• One or more of the following certifications will be given strong consideration: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional; Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305); ITIL v4; TOGAF or equivalent; cloud security or Well-Architected credential; familiarity with Infrastructure as Code review and controls.
• Extensive expertise in reviewing and approving HLDs and LLDs while ensuring change quality, risk management, rollback strategies, and evidence within CAB/change control.
• Strong architectural knowledge of AWS and Azure networking, identity, compute, storage, monitoring, and backup/disaster recovery; familiarity with GCP is a plus.
• Understanding of technical standards, reference architectures, landing zones, ITIL-aligned change control, CAB processes, risk assessment, acceptance criteria, cloud security, compliance, and audit readiness.
• Familiarity with reviewing Terraform, Bicep/ARM, or CloudFormation, including policy-as-code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scanning.
• Working knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, and an awareness of NIS2 and DORA.
• Willingness to travel as needed, including occasional visits to regional offices, data centers, and supplier locations.
