This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the Civil Design Lead or Discipline Lead when assigned, offering technical guidance without direct supervisory authority.
• Oversee civil design efforts for intricate or multiple utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage initiatives.
• Create and coordinate civil construction drawing packages, encompassing site layouts, grading, drainage, stormwater management, access roads, utilities, erosion and sediment control, and earthwork quantities.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and maintain surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, grading models, utility layouts, and other essential project design components.
• Convert engineering concepts, design criteria, calculations, surveys, and technical data into cohesive and constructible design documents.
• Facilitate internal and client-oriented design coordination meetings, conveying design decisions, risks, conflicts, and recommended solutions.
• Execute complex design tasks while coordinating and delegating appropriate segments of the work to designers, technicians, and junior engineers.
• Assess design models, calculations, redlines, shop drawings, revisions, and deliverables for precision, consistency, constructability, and compliance with project specifications.
• Implement quality-control procedures, checklists, CADD standards, and project requirements while ensuring design quality ownership.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, and other disciplines to identify and address design conflicts proactively.
• Assist project teams in adhering to design schedules and budgets by planning tasks, monitoring progress, and enhancing design efficiency.
• Engage directly with multiple clients to comprehend project requirements, convey technical information, and support responsive project execution.
• Mentor and guide designers, technicians, and junior engineers on Civil 3D, design methodologies, quality expectations, constructability, and efficient workflows.
• Develop and enhance CADD standards, details, templates, tools, procedures, and workflows.
• Share specialized expertise through training, presentations, mentoring, or technical content.
• An associate or technical degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and progressive education.
• Generally, 10 or more years of progressive civil design experience in consulting engineering, EPC, land development, or infrastructure settings.
• Significant experience supporting utility-scale renewable energy, utility infrastructure, or other large-scale site-development projects.
• Advanced expertise in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including surfaces, grading, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, plan production, and quantity calculations.
• Proven experience with large-scale site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, access roads, utilities, erosion and sediment control, earthwork, and construction plan preparation.
• Experience in leading civil design packages and coordinating the efforts of other designers, technicians, or junior engineers.
• Capability to interpret surveys, design criteria, engineering calculations, geotechnical data, hydrology and hydraulic information, specifications, and relevant permitting requirements.
• Experience in reviewing design deliverables for accuracy, consistency, constructability, graphical quality, and adherence to project specifications and CADD standards.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and technical communication abilities.
• Competence in managing priorities and delivering high-quality work across multiple projects.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, engineers, project managers, surveyors, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness and capability to mentor and develop less-experienced team members and contribute to design standards and continuous improvement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
