This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +16 more states.
• Evaluate Jerry’s Florida property tax appeal product and rigorously test its workflows.
• Identify processes and product decisions that may not withstand scrutiny from Florida’s Value Adjustment Board system.
• Elucidate the practical implications of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules 12D-9 and 12D-10.
• Detail the county-level variations among Florida Property Appraiser offices and VABs.
• Guide on TRIM notice timing, the 25-day filing period, DR-486 variants, e-filing versus paper submissions, and the stipulations of §194.014 regarding partial payments.
• Assist in developing hearing and evidence protocols that encompass comparable selection, timelines for evidence exchange, and arguments based on conditions.
• Provide counsel to the early-stage product team prior to the customer-facing launch of the product.
• Over 5 years of direct, practical experience in Florida regarding residential property tax appeal filings.
• Personal experience in filing or arguing petitions before a Florida Value Adjustment Board, or serving as a special magistrate to adjudicate them.
• Extensive experience managing hundreds of parcels and handling edge cases.
• In-depth understanding of each stage of the Florida property tax appeals process.
• Capability to clarify the practical functioning of Chapter 194, F.S. and DOR uniform rules 12D-9 and 12D-10.
• Awareness of county-level distinctions in Florida Property Appraiser offices and VABs.
• Familiarity with TRIM notice timing, the 25-day filing window, DR-486 and its variants, and the differences between e-filing and paper submissions, in addition to the requirements of §194.014 regarding partial payments.
• Knowledgeable about hearings, comparable selection, evidence exchange periods, and condition-based arguments.
• No existing conflict of interest with any other company developing consumer property tax appeal software.
• Strong preference for candidates based in Florida.
• Availability for approximately 5–10 hours per week of hourly, as-needed consulting.
• Must possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. or Canada.
• Must indicate if visa sponsorship is required.
