Structural Forensic Engineer, PE – Independent Contractor

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Conduct forensic investigations related to structural failures, collapses, construction defects, and property damage claims.

• Execute site inspections and collect pertinent field data, measurements, photographs, and documentation.

• Assess structural systems to ascertain the cause, origin, and degree of reported damages or failures.

• Utilize engineering principles, relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices to draw conclusions.

• Draft clear, concise, and technically sound forensic engineering reports.

• Engage in depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial proceedings as an expert witness when necessary.

• Effectively communicate findings to clients, attorneys, insurance professionals, and other stakeholders.

• Stay updated on applicable building codes, engineering standards, and forensic investigation methodologies.

• Undertake additional project-related consulting services as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a relevant discipline.

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing; preference for multiple state licensure.

• Prior experience in forensic engineering is preferred.

• Proven experience in investigating structural failures, construction defects, and damage causation matters.

• Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

• Valid driver's license and capacity to travel independently to inspection sites within the assigned region.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing capabilities.

• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.

• Experience in providing litigation support, depositions, or expert testimony is preferred.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments independently while meeting project deadlines.
