This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.
• Assist in the expansion of our Energy Practice’s Power Delivery Initiative.
• Lead and support the engineering and design efforts for substations, switchyards, and various electrical infrastructure projects (both greenfield and brownfield).
• Conduct engineering calculations and develop analytical models for structural steel and concrete design.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers and Project Managers to create workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets for civil/structural work activities.
• Aid in developing task and effort estimates for proposal support.
• Contribute to the overall business development strategy focused on substations and high voltage electrical infrastructure.
• Coordinate with the civil/structural design team to ensure the timely completion of engineering drawings.
• Engage in multi-discipline collaboration for the creation of general arrangements, vendor procurement packages, and similar deliverables.
• Develop, update, and implement group-specific standards.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations that summarize research, findings, and recommendations.
• Draft project technical specifications and contract documents.
• Review and validate work produced by peers/groups.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
• Proficient in structural design for overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems.
• Familiarity with Substation projects.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred.
• 6 years of experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of comprehensive industry codes and standards (e.g., NESC, G.O.95, ASCE 113, ASCE 10, ASCE 48, IEEE 605, IEEE 693, AISC 360, ASCE 7, IBC, ACI 318, RUS, ASCE design guidelines, NEC).
• Demonstrated experience in participating in complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teams is preferred.
• Experience executing work in 3D modeling environments is preferred.
• Background in the modeling, analysis, and design of steel structures and foundations is preferred.
• Familiarity with various voltage levels (4kV, 12kV, 138kV, 230kV, 500kV, etc.) is preferred.
• Proficient in using PLS-CADD software packages (PLS-Tower, PLS-Pole, etc.) is preferred.
• Experience with structural analysis and design software (e.g., Staad.PRO, SAP2000, MFAD, L-Pile) is preferred.
• Experience working with remote teams is preferred.
• Knowledge of full EPC, Design/Build projects from inception to completion is preferred.
• Owner’s Engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience with retrofit or brownfield projects is preferred.
