This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the creation and implementation of innovative structural system solutions, advancing programs from concept validation to extensive deployment within our warehouse automation framework.
• Collaborate closely with Product Engineering, Solutions, Project Execution, and Strategic Partner teams to ensure the successful design, development, and integration of our warehouse structural systems.
• Utilize extensive engineering leadership experience to guide the System Layout and Structural Engineering organization in producing high-quality design packages, installation documentation, and Bill of Materials (BOM) releases that facilitate the deployment of Symbotic warehouse automation systems.
• Cultivate and sustain robust cross-functional relationships with customers, architects, consultants, and internal stakeholders across Solutions, Product Engineering, and Project Execution to support effective system design, integration, and new product introduction initiatives.
• Promote alignment and collaboration within the department’s core functional areas — including 3D Design (Revit), 2D Design (AutoCAD), Structural Engineering, and BOM Management — ensuring smooth execution throughout all phases of system development and deployment.
• Encourage a culture of continuous improvement across 2D, 3D, and BOM workflows, focusing on scalability, operational efficiency, and enhancing departmental capacity to accommodate a growing customer base and expanding project portfolio.
• Advocate for the development and implementation of advanced CAD automation, parametric modeling, API integrations, and AI-assisted engineering workflows, employing tools such as AutoLISP, Dynamo for Revit, and custom plug-ins to enhance design accuracy, efficiency, and reduce cycle time.
• Persist in the implementation and enhancement of project management tools, including Smartsheet, to bolster resource planning, workload balancing, project visibility, and reporting capabilities within a growing engineering team.
• Establish and expand structured, data-informed decision-making processes to effectively handle design conflicts, competing priorities, and the integration of new product introduction (NPI) system subassemblies into standardized product offerings.
• Foster a collaborative, team-focused culture rooted in accountability, process discipline, attention to detail, and pride in delivering high-quality work products.
• Ensure departmental excellence in the accuracy, quality, and completeness of Project Design Review deliverables, while driving timely execution against Stage Gate program milestones and implementation schedules.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline is required.
• At least 12+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering, system layout engineering, industrial infrastructure, warehouse automation, material handling, robotics, or similar technical fields.
• A minimum of 5+ years of leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams across structural engineering, BIM/Revit, CAD design, and systems integration functions.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale industrial, warehouse automation, material handling, or robotics system deployments from concept development through installation and operational execution.
• Strong background in designing and integrating structural steel systems and industrial infrastructure in high-volume operational settings.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Solutions, Manufacturing, Project Execution, customers, and external partners to drive complex deployment initiatives.
• Experience in scaling engineering processes, standardizing design, CAD automation, and achieving operational efficiencies in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Familiarity with warehouse automation technologies such as ASRS, conveyors, robotics, palletizing systems, or automated fulfillment solutions is highly preferred.
• Strong leadership and execution experience in customer-facing roles, including resolving field, installation, integration, and operational challenges.
• Proficiency with BIM/CAD platforms such as Revit and AutoCAD, including knowledge of design automation and parametric modeling tools.
• Proven capability to manage multiple concurrent customer deployments with tight timelines and operational complexity.
• Solid understanding of engineering governance, quality management, design review processes, and stage-gate development methodologies.
