This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
β’ Responsible for developing and managing key accounts within the designated territory, emphasizing utility-scale PV and BESS opportunities.
β’ Establishes and nurtures senior-level relationships with IPPs, EPCs, developers, utilities, and other critical decision-makers in the energy sector.
β’ Creates effective long-term strategic plans aimed at capturing market share and maximizing sales revenue within the designated area.
β’ Implements a complex solutions selling approach at the executive level to promote technology alignment and advance roadmap development.
β’ Develops comprehensive short and long-term sales strategies to optimize business capture across the customer base.
β’ Constructs business cases and strategic plans to provide market insights, industry data, and customer requirements into the internal product and solutions development cycles.
β’ Proactively manages and drives the monthly pipeline business forecast, addressing any issues to ensure successful and timely resolution.
β’ Enhances and implements sales cycles, systems, and processes as necessary to improve effectiveness and profitability.
β’ Works collaboratively with internal teams across sales, product management, engineering, and service departments to ensure alignment on technical requirements and customer needs.
β’ Maintains accurate records of customer activities and pipeline within CRM systems, demonstrating thorough organizational discipline and direct management reporting.
β’ Participates in relevant trade shows, conferences, seminars, and industry events as needed.
β’ Travels to Rocklin-based offices, trade shows, and customer meetings as required.
β’ Visits SMA headquarters in Kassel, Germany for alignment within the business unit as necessary.
β’ A bachelor's degree in a commercial or technical field is required. A master's degree or post-graduate certification in renewable energy or a related discipline is preferred.
β’ 5-10 years of proven sales or business development experience in advanced technology industries, with a strong engineering background.
β’ Experience in electrical systems, solar/PV design, or related fields is essential.
β’ Demonstrated success in managing large, complex customers in cross-functional matrix environments with lengthy design, qualification, and project sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers.
β’ Familiarity with and prior engagement with utilities, IPPs, end users, and the broader U.S. energy sector.
β’ Knowledge of utility grid operations, power plants, energy transmission and delivery, and associated services.
β’ Requires a strong network of senior-level industry contacts, an understanding of market trends and industry drivers, and familiarity with comprehensive system technology roadmaps.
