Strategic Planning Consultant – Water & Wastewater Utilities

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation of a long-term strategic plan for a water and wastewater utility.

• Coordinate planning sessions with utility management and personnel.

• Evaluate organizational priorities and align long-term objectives with everyday operations.

• Analyze current plans, organizational data, performance metrics, and financial documentation.

• Conduct interviews with utility leadership and essential stakeholders.

• Design and lead strategic planning workshops with leadership, staff, and relevant governing officials when necessary.

• Set priorities in areas including service reliability, infrastructure investment, financial sustainability, workforce capacity, and customer service.

• Draft the strategic plan encompassing goals, objectives, initiatives, and performance metrics.

• Create an implementation roadmap detailing responsibilities, timelines, and methods for tracking progress.

• Present the plan and integrate feedback into the final products.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience leading strategic planning initiatives for water or wastewater utilities.

• Excellent facilitation abilities, including a track record of achieving consensus among stakeholders with varying priorities.

• In-depth understanding of the operational, infrastructure, financial, and workforce challenges facing public utilities.

• Capability to convert stakeholder feedback and supporting data into a concise, actionable written plan.

• Experience in developing implementation roadmaps and performance metrics that utility personnel can effectively manage.

• Preferred experience in presenting strategic plans to utility boards, city councils, or other governing entities.
