Strategic Finance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +20 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning — create and uphold financial models that support the annual budget, as well as quarterly and monthly forecasts, and multi-year strategic plans.

• Manage the planning cycles from start to finish — collaborate with department heads to formulate plans that are both achievable and ambitious, while serving as the sole owner of FP&A throughout the process.

• Transform results into actionable insights — assess actual performance against the budget and forecasts, clarify variances, and convert outcomes into strategies for future actions.

• Establish and monitor essential metrics — create KPIs and design clear, reliable dashboards and reports that provide leadership with prompt insights into performance.

• Act as a genuine business partner — integrate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Operations to facilitate strategic initiatives through financial analysis and insights.

• Influence significant decisions — prepare high-quality analyses and presentations for the executive team regarding financial performance, unit economics, and critical business drivers.

• Assist with strategic and ad-hoc projects — model scenarios for fundraising, new product launches, pricing strategies, and market expansion efforts.

• Elevate the standards of finance operations — spearhead process enhancements within the FP&A function to increase speed, accuracy, and scalability.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive experience in FP&A or strategic finance, preferably within a high-growth startup or technology firm.

• Outstanding financial modeling expertise — capable of constructing complex, elegant, and genuinely functional models, and proficient with relevant tools.

• Proven application of AI in your work — you have effectively utilized AI tools for forecasting, analysis, automation, or reporting tasks.

• A solid understanding of GAAP, the three financial statements, and their interconnections.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, discern key trends, and convey findings clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.

• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, along with the discretion to adapt messages to suit various audiences — from analysts to the CEO.

• Familiarity with financial planning and reporting software; experience with SQL or BI tools is an advantage.

• A proactive, ownership-oriented mindset — comfortable being solely accountable for FP&A and thriving without predefined guidelines.

• Capability to work swiftly, manage competing priorities, and maintain accuracy under pressure.

• A collaborative nature and an ability to cultivate trust across the organization.

• Bonus: experience in enterprise SaaS, supply chain, or the grocery/retail sectors.
