This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, oversee, and enhance a team of communication specialists.
• Delegate tasks, establish priorities, manage workload against competing deadlines, and oversee team capacity.
• Evaluate and approve team deliverables for quality, accuracy, and consistency.
• Provide coaching, constructive feedback, performance insights, and professional development; assist in hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts.
• Develop team standards, style guidelines, editorial workflows, review processes, and version control practices.
• Act as the main communications liaison for client leadership, managing expectations, escalations, and competing requests.
• Assist in preparing congressional testimony for federal senior leaders.
• Compose talking points, executive summaries, briefings, and other executive-level communication materials.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, leaders, and stakeholders to craft messaging for senior leaders.
• Simplify complex messaging into clear, accessible language.
• Ensure content accurately reflects vital information and adheres to standardized messaging, tone, and voice.
• Review documents for stylistic and formatting coherence and ensure alignment with client style guides and federal plain-language standards.
• Identify key stakeholders and facilitate the implementation of executive communication strategies.
• Maintain effective communication channels between VHA Central Office, VISNs, and VA Medical Centers.
• Coordinate communication strategies, plans, and mission statements with VA staff offices.
• Update, implement, and maintain the Communications Plan, integrating it with EHR product and program strategies.
• 8 years of relevant communications experience.
• 2+ years of experience supervising, leading, or mentoring communications personnel.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Proven experience in managing team workload, review processes, and timely delivery.
• Experience in supporting complex projects and transformational initiatives within the federal government.
• Experience in creating, executing, and evaluating strategic communications plans.
• Comfortable managing complex client relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
