📋 Description

• The Strategic Account Executive plays a crucial role in fostering relationships with key decision-makers at the district level, driving new business opportunities and expansion initiatives.

• By promoting Newsela’s range of products (which includes supplemental literature, assessment tools, data warehousing, and MTSS resources), you will authentically engage with a diverse array of K-12 stakeholders and departments, ensuring that student success is at the forefront of every discussion while broadening the reach of captivating learning materials to positively influence teachers and students throughout your territory.

• As an integral member of a regional sales team and the representative of Newsela in the marketplace, you will take ownership of your territory, oversee the complete sales cycle, and cultivate new business relationships that introduce Newsela’s solutions into classrooms.

• Actively pursue new business opportunities within districts, from initial prospecting and pipeline development to closing deals, managing the complete sales process for multiple products.

• Handle the daily operations of pipeline creation, management, forecasting, and the design of lead generation campaigns, while closely collaborating with other internal teams.

• Serve as the primary expert on your territory’s funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 landscape, using these insights to formulate strategic plans that advance key accounts through the sales cycle.

• Meet individual revenue targets while working alongside a passionate, cross-functional team to accelerate Newsela’s growth during the expansion of our national sales organization.

• Excel in a role that demands significant independence, represent the company in the market, make strategic recommendations that influence results, and manage priorities autonomously.

• Utilize discretion and independent judgment on important matters, including evaluating customer needs, structuring customized solutions, negotiating within established parameters, and influencing revenue and business outcomes.

• Regularly engage with our executive leadership team during meetings to discuss specific deal strategies, share industry trends, and garner support for district-specific initiatives.

• Access a highly skilled team dedicated to supporting this portfolio of business, along with extensive assistance from our Learning & Enablement team.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years' experience as an Account Executive with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding significant sales quotas and selling products to K-12 school districts in the EdTech sector is required.

• Specific experience in selling curriculum (core or supplemental), Assessment, Data warehouse, and/or MTSS within the K-12 EdTech market is essential.

• A proactive prospector who can establish a new book of business from the ground up, with extensive experience in networking, prospecting, pipeline generation, and a proven ability to forecast business in the EdTech industry.

• Familiar with the MEDDPICC sales methodology.

• Exhibit proven success in forecasting business within the EdTech industry.

• Highly organized, adaptable to change, a quick learner who starts strong, maintains high service standards, and consistently achieves set sales targets in a dynamic environment.

• Demonstrated experience as a strategic territory manager with the executive presence necessary to lead consultative conversations with districts, navigate multiple stakeholders, and engineer tailored solutions for each customer.

• Enthusiastic about opportunities to meet customers and prospects face-to-face. Travel is expected to be around 25% (likely a few times per quarter), based on business and customer requirements.
