Storage Engineer – SME

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design, implement, and manage enterprise SAN/NAS and storage virtualization solutions for critical systems.

• Create storage strategies, standards, and policies that adhere to organizational and federal compliance requirements.

• Lead intricate storage projects, including migrations, upgrades, and integration with both cloud and on-premises environments.

• Ensure storage platforms are designed for high availability, data integrity, and scalability across SEC environments.

• Administer and enhance large-scale enterprise storage environments, including proactive monitoring and health management.

• Conduct capacity planning and forecasting to ensure service continuity and avoid resource limitations.

• Diagnose and resolve complex storage incidents, including latency, throughput, replication, and platform stability challenges.

• Establish and monitor operational metrics and trend analysis to support service-level performance.

• Design and maintain enterprise backup and recovery strategies to safeguard mission-critical data.

• Implement and verify disaster recovery and business continuity storage controls, including cross-site replication and recovery readiness.

• Ensure retention, recovery, and data protection practices comply with organizational policy and federal regulations.

• Support audit readiness by maintaining storage documentation, configuration baselines, and proof of implementation.

• Direct storage workstreams for migrations, technology refreshes, and modernization efforts while minimizing operational disruptions.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, virtualization, and cloud teams to integrate storage services comprehensively.

• Perform risk assessments and suggest remediation strategies for storage resiliency, security, and operational risk.

• Mentor junior engineers and act as the storage Subject Matter Expert (SME) for incident response, strategic planning, and initiatives for continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.

• Over 12 years of experience in enterprise storage architecture, design, and administration.

• Proficiency in SAN/NAS technologies, storage virtualization, and enterprise backup/recovery solutions.

• Experience in leading complex storage migrations, upgrades, and integrations with cloud and on-premises environments.

• Advanced skills in storage performance tuning, capacity planning, risk assessment, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Must fulfill contract citizenship/work authorization requirements.

• Capability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust suitability (or higher, if necessary).
