Staff/Senior Machine Learning Scientist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, train, fine-tune, and optimize cutting-edge GenAI and machine learning models for healthcare challenges.

• Design and execute experiments to assess the performance of AI models.

• Collaborate with IT, operations, and clinical teams to create and integrate AI solutions into products and systems.

• Mentor and support interns, junior staff, scientists, and engineers, depending on the level.

• Keep up-to-date with advancements in GenAI and large language models.

• Engage in technology roadmaps for AI initiatives.

• Present project updates to team members and cross-functional partners.

• Define and enhance Cleveland Clinic’s AI strategy.

• Deliver innovative, scalable, AI-driven solutions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• Staff level: MS or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.

• Staff level: 7+ years of hands-on AI/ML research and development experience post-PhD, or 10+ years post-Master’s degree.

• Senior level: Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Economics, Applied Math, Engineering, or related fields.

• Senior level: 7 years of hands-on AI/ML research and development experience, or PhD plus 4 years of such experience post-PhD.

• Proficient with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.

• Experience in building, tuning, and fine-tuning foundation models.

• Extensive experience with deep learning and GenAI techniques in Natural Language Processing and multi-modal representations.

• Strong programming skills in Python or other relevant languages.

• Experience in developing and deploying AI technologies in the healthcare sector.

• Familiarity with healthcare data and systems, such as EHR and medical imaging.

• Experience with AI-related cloud computing technologies, including Azure and Databricks.

• Knowledge of MLOps best practices.

• Ability to manage projects from requirements gathering and design through to product launch.

• Capability to work cross-functionally and convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong passion for utilizing AI in healthcare.

• Willingness to travel throughout the hospital system.

• Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods.

• Capability to operate a computer and office equipment.

• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

• Required to comply with the annual influenza vaccination program or secure an approved exemption.

• Offers of employment are contingent upon controlled-substance testing.
