Staff/Senior Engineer, Backend-Focused, Greenfield Agentic Project

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Collaborate closely with engineering teams throughout Reap to develop and integrate agentic payment functionalities into their systems.

• Take ownership of agentic features from inception to completion across different teams: design the workflow, implement it in the appropriate environment, and manage it in a production setting.

• Develop backend services using Node.js / TypeScript (NestJS or Elysia) to create high-performance APIs and asynchronous tasks.

• Utilize AWS cloud-native services (Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, Aurora, S3, CloudWatch) to construct scalable and resilient architectures.

• Transform the agentic payments roadmap into implemented infrastructure.

• Engage directly with product teams, founders, and the engineers from the host team.

• Use AI tools and contemporary development methodologies to accelerate progress across various systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5-8+ years of professional experience in backend engineering.

• Proven ability to quickly adapt to unfamiliar codebases and deliver results efficiently.

• Extensive knowledge of Node.js and TypeScript, including RESTful API design and asynchronous job patterns.

• Strong sense of product development — capable of bringing a feature from concept to production without detailed specifications provided.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (Lambda, SQS, Aurora, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, etc.).

• Solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational database systems.

• Familiarity with event-driven and serverless architecture.

• Low ego and a high degree of adaptability.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fully remote, asynchronous team environment.
