This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Establish and nurture relationships while developing technical advocates within governmental and partner organizations.
• Aid in project planning and the creation of statements of work and technical requirements.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional government partners to identify issues, comprehend system limitations, and propose viable and impactful technical solutions that accommodate the needs of all stakeholders.
• Assist in documenting and disseminating technical best practices, as well as framing government RFPs.
• Work with government partners to produce written materials that convey complex technical concepts.
• Provide technical insights and expertise aimed at enhancing government services for agencies, organizational stakeholders, and other important audiences.
• Estimate project scope and preliminary project plans for government initiatives.
• Contribute technical evaluations to assessments of potential new state engagements, including landscape research and partner capacity analysis, to support team and leadership decision-making.
• Implement proof-of-concept applications, software installations, and custom development projects.
• Lead minor technical implementations and low/no-code software solutions.
• Create and execute training plans and documentation to empower government agencies in enhancing and modernizing their service delivery.
• Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect, with a background in leading projects and engaging with customers.
• Recent experience in back-end development, database management, data science, and/or DevOps.
• At least 4 years of experience coding back-end systems and data infrastructure in an industry-standard programming language (Python, Java, C#, Ruby, etc.).
• Recent experience in integrating emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI models) into existing workflows or new solutions.
• Strong self-management abilities with a proven track record of handling multiple engagements concurrently.
• Inherently curious and empathetic; capable of balancing the needs of partners, users, and teams thoughtfully while identifying solutions that advance work towards a greater impact.
• Demonstrates tenacity and adaptability; skilled at navigating relationships, ambiguity, and technical obstacles while unblocking oneself and the team.
• Ability to conduct research to gain insights into current systems and architectures and integrate this knowledge into designing new solutions and architectures.
• Interest in emerging AI tools and a dedication to utilizing them responsibly and effectively.

• A one-time payment of $700 for remote environment setup; $200 stipend (included in the first paycheck) and up to $500 reimbursement, following our equipment policy.
• Monthly reimbursement of $50 for cell phone and/or internet expenses.
• Annual stipend of $500 (per calendar year) for professional development, prorated at the time of hire.
• Up to $500 of professional development funds may be rolled over each year, with a maximum rollover limit of $1000.
• Training and guidance for staff required to use AI in their roles, along with opportunities for employees to acquire AI-related skills to support their job and career advancement.
• Employees receive a 100% employer match on the first 3% of their contributions.
• Employees with over 3 years of service receive an additional 50% match on contributions from 3% to 5%, resulting in a maximum employer contribution of 5%.
• At least one no-cost health insurance option available for full-time employees for employee-only coverage.
• A minimum of 80% coverage for dependents.
• Code for America employees can work remotely from anywhere in the US.
• Employees must have their primary residence within the US.
• Full-time employees are expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
• Collaborative working hours: all internal meetings are scheduled between 10 AM - 3 PM PT. All Code for America staff are expected to be available during these designated hours.
• Open personal time off (subject to manager approval), a minimum of 14 paid holidays, and an organization-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day.
• Paid sick leave of up to 96 hours annually.
• 17 weeks of paid parental and family leave.
