Staff Software Engineer – Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the technical architecture for Phare Fiber, outlining identity and join-key contracts, event and API agreements, schema evolution, delivery patterns and guarantees, cross-cloud connectivity, as well as tenant and PHI boundaries.

• Develop production code and manage the end-to-end shipping of the initial use case with measurable outcomes.

• Create client libraries, onboarding procedures, and contract-review processes for reuse among application teams.

• Lead design review sessions throughout the Application Platform portfolio.

• Set engineering standards regarding testing, API design, backward compatibility, and operational readiness.

• Collaborate with product and engineering leaders across Phare OS applications, Data Platform, Infrastructure, and Security to establish technical direction and prioritize measurable outcomes.

• Manage production systems through SLOs, observability, on-call responsibilities, and incident response.

• Provide mentorship to engineers within the team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in building and managing production distributed systems.

• More than 5 years of experience in setting technical direction across multiple teams or a significant platform.

• Proficiency in building and operating production event-driven systems utilizing Apache Kafka or a similar platform.

• Experience in integrating diverse systems through backward-compatible APIs and event contracts.

• Familiarity with event-driven data architectures using Spark, Databricks, or an equivalent lakehouse platform.

• Staff-level technical leadership experience across teams while remaining actively involved with production systems.
