Staff Software Engineer, Payments Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the development and enhancement of systems that facilitate payments compliance.

• Create and construct service-oriented, configurable, and auditable Compliance systems utilizing existing Airbnb capabilities.

• Work in collaboration with Product, Design, Policy, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to define and deliver impactful features.

• Collaborate with other engineering teams to provide a holistic experience for users.

• Set the technical vision and ensure alignment across engineering and cross-functional teams.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to engineers both within and outside the immediate team.

• Propel the advancement of Airbnb's engineering processes and technical foundations.

• Initiate systemic enhancements to streamline development, minimize toil, and elevate technical quality and operational excellence.

• Develop compliance experiences for hosts and guests, including the necessary information collection and management.

• Create systems for screening individuals and businesses against global regulatory requirements.

• Implement continuous auditing practices to ensure compliance controls are enforced as intended.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 9 years of industry experience in a dynamic technology environment.

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience in leading a team responsible for production systems on call.

• Hands-on experience in leading project teams and establishing technical direction and strategy.

• Proficient in one or more back-end server languages, such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++.

• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and contemporary JavaScript frameworks like React.

• Knowledge of architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications.

• Prior experience with regulatory compliance standards and implementing controls is a plus.

• A forward-thinking approach to addressing long-term regulatory needs.
