
Staff Software Engineer, Mobile β Android

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Act as a subject matter expert and authority on the Android codebase, guiding technical direction and platform standards.
β’ Lead the design and execution of intricate initiatives that span multiple sprints or quarters and may involve several teams.
β’ Take ownership of resolving complex Android technical challenges and assess trade-offs for ambiguous issues.
β’ Establish engineering standards and best practices through code reviews, architectural guidance, and mentorship.
β’ Drive architectural decisions and collaborate with the Architecture team on efforts that encompass multiple systems.
β’ Assist the team in overcoming challenging problems, mentor engineers, and enhance overall technical capabilities.
β’ Collaborate with the Engineering Manager, product, and design teams to shape the Android technical vision and roadmap.
β’ Identify risks, dependencies, and technical debt, breaking large initiatives into manageable phases.
β’ Lead technical interviews and contribute to the calibration of hiring processes.
β’ Engage in code reviews, promote learning, and share knowledge.
β’ Stay updated on Android development trends, tools, and technologies, advocating for quality enhancements.
β’ Occasionally contribute bug fixes or manage community-submitted pull requests.
β’ Profound expertise in developing intricate Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
β’ Proven history of leading initiatives that extend beyond individual features.
β’ Strong understanding of Android UI/UX design and architectural principles.
β’ Experience in establishing technical standards and promoting adoption across a team or organization.
β’ Familiarity with unit testing, UI testing, and snapshot testing methodologies.
β’ Experience utilizing Claude Code or a similar generative AI coding platform.
β’ Knowledge of Android-specific components such as Autofill Service and Accessibility Service.
β’ Familiarity with Google Play internal/beta testing tracks.
β’ Demonstrated ability to mentor and coach engineers, fostering technical talent development.
β’ Capability to articulate complex, poorly defined problems for constructive cross-team discussions.
β’ Proficiency in driving alignment among teams and stakeholders, resolving conflicts, and building consensus.
β’ Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
β’ A collaborative and adaptable approach.
