Staff Software Engineer, Identity & Access Management

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop, optimize, and sustain Reddit’s essential IAM internal identity capabilities, platforms, and infrastructure. Design and implement high-quality API integrations alongside custom enterprise IGA connectivity solutions.

• Establish proactive monitoring frameworks, executive-friendly dashboards, and advanced alerting systems. Employ synthetic transactions and anomaly detection to assess system availability (targeting multiple 9s). Leverage identity data to monitor license utilization, assist in fiscal planning, and promote platform adoption.

• Create and sustain documentation, audit logs, and reports to perpetually enhance business processes and ensure smooth compliance execution.

• Address complex production incidents, investigate failure conditions, and conduct root-cause analysis to support 24x7 operations.

• Advise global, cross-functional partners on IAM best practices while elevating engineering standards through code reviews, technical guidelines, and optimized workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of backend development experience spanning multiple layers of the stack—from databases and networking to efficient computing.

• Extensive knowledge in corporate IAM, covering the complete workforce identity lifecycle (Joiner, Mover, Leaver, Access Requests, and Certifications).

• Capability to design and implement sophisticated distributed systems functioning under high load.

• Proficiency in our core technology stack: Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript, coupled with a strong DevOps mindset and end-to-end code ownership (testing, monitoring, deploying, and maintaining).

• Comprehensive understanding of modern authentication protocols (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and secure-by-design principles.

• Practical experience with enterprise identity solutions such as IGA, MFA, PAM/PIM, JIT, and Directory architectures (e.g., Okta, LDAP, SailPoint).

• Knowledge of governance and compliance frameworks (SOC2, SOX, PCI), including facilitating audit-related access certification reviews.
