• Elevating the technical standard by assisting fellow engineers in making informed architectural and implementation choices.
• Fostering clarity and alignment in uncertain problem areas.
• Delivering solutions that are dependable, observable, scalable, and maintainable.
• Spotting opportunities to utilize AI, agents, and automation to decrease operational overhead, enhance decision-making, and simplify complex workflows.
• Promoting a culture of experimentation by implementing A/B testing and data-driven insights to inform product and engineering decisions.
• Extensive experience in shipping production software, typically accumulated over 10+ years or through equivalent impactful experiences.
• Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails and modern TypeScript/React.
• Solid experience with relational databases, including schema design, query performance, data modeling, and safe migrations.
• Experience with integration of external APIs in production, including handling retries, idempotency, rate limiting, partial failures, observability, and vendor-specific quirks.
• Proven ability to work independently on ambiguous, cross-functional challenges.
• Strong product discernment: capable of reasoning about user needs, operational workflows, edge cases, and trade-offs.
• Robust data instincts: adept at utilizing metrics, logs, database queries, dashboards, and product analytics to comprehend current situations and assess the impact of changes.
• Demonstrated capacity to elevate team standards through code reviews, design reviews, mentorship, technical writing, or establishing best practices.
• Exceptional written communication skills, encompassing design documents, RFCs, incident reports, rollout plans, and clear decision records.
• Comfortable operating within regulated or high-trust environments where accuracy, privacy, and auditability are critical.
• Familiarity with AI-native development methodologies, including AI coding tools, agents, and automation to expedite high-quality software delivery.
