Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack – Sportsbook

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Spearhead the design, testing, documentation, and implementation of high-quality, stable, and scalable software into production.

• Cultivate a deep understanding of the industry, product offerings, and strategic roadmap to influence team strategy and organizational direction.

• Oversee the complete technical execution of complex features and systems from ideation and architecture to deployment and refinement.

• Harmonize designs across the department while advocating for clarity, simplicity, and alignment with organizational objectives.

• Collaborate with product teams, design, and stakeholders on critical technical decisions with substantial impact.

• Lead incident resolution as part of the on-call duty rotation.

• Identify and eliminate obstacles on complex projects.

• Conduct and elevate the standards of code reviews.

• Facilitate team planning and design discussions, optimizing design patterns.

• Advocate for enhancements in software quality, testability, operational metrics, and documentation.

• Mentor and guide engineers at various levels of expertise.

• Travel occasionally to various offices and locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building initiatives.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of experience in developing highly scalable, performant, and adaptable backend distributed systems.

• Proficient in Spring and Java.

• Capable of driving backend development best practices and mentoring peers on coding and architectural strategies.

• Familiarity with observability practices, including logging, monitoring, and tracing within distributed systems.

• Expertise in Agile software delivery and facilitating process enhancements across teams.

• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams in large enterprise settings.

• Exceptional communication skills for articulating complex technical concepts to engineers, executives, and non-technical stakeholders.

• An adaptable mindset in a rapidly changing organization.

• Team-oriented approach.

• Preferred experience in sports industry, gaming, content delivery, React, Kafka, event-driven architectures, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, diverse codebases, and startup/high-growth environments.

• Salary range of $144,400–$205,200 USD.

• Bonus compensation referenced.
