This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Design and enhance the fundamental control, data, and observability systems that drive LiveKit Cloud.
• Develop resilient architectures that span multiple regions and maintain functionality during partial failures.
• Create libraries, protocols, and tools that improve reliability and boost developer productivity throughout the organization.
• Analyze and strengthen critical pathways using metrics, tracing, testing, and insights from real-world traffic.
• Develop new platform functionalities in areas such as identity, scheduling, observability, and distributed state management.
• Prototype, test, deploy, monitor, and refine systems comprehensively.
• Collaborate across core services, telephony, and observability on the LiveKit platform.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering distributed systems in a production environment.
• Strong foundational programming skills.
• Good judgment and a quick learning ability.
• Capability to take full ownership of tasks: prototype, test, deploy, monitor, and iterate.
• Comfortable navigating consensus, coordination, and distributed failure scenarios.
• Ability to comprehend data flow, state, performance, and correctness.
• Skill in breaking down complex systems into manageable components.
• Clear communication skills and a pragmatic engineering mindset.
• Proficiency in Go preferred; however, willingness to learn Go is acceptable for candidates without experience.
• Practical experience with pub/sub, RPC, or coordination systems such as NATS, etcd, Raft, or Paxos is preferred.
• Familiarity with real-time or low-latency infrastructure is a plus.
• Experience in deploying observability tools, including tracing, metrics, or large-scale logging, is preferred.
• Knowledge of Go, psrpc, gRPC, Raft, NATS, Kubernetes, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and ClickHouse.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US or the country of residence.
