Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of, design, and manage all data pipelines based on pandas and Spark from development to production and ongoing monitoring.

• Enhance and operationalize machine learning models for AdTech applications, including look-alike modeling, audience expansion, and campaign measurement.

• Develop robust data-source validation, comprehensive test coverage, and self-healing jobs for data within confidential-computing environments.

• Partner with data scientists, Rust backend engineers, and product teams to deliver features from start to finish.

• Utilize LLM-based code assistants, design generators, and test-automation tools; collaborate on workflows with the team.

• Profile, benchmark, and optimize Spark workloads.

• Implement best practices in orchestration and observability.

• Ensure the technology stack remains future-proof.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Over 5 years of professional experience.

• Expert-level proficiency in Python.

• Strong hands-on experience with pandas, PySpark/Scala Spark, and distributed data processing.

• Proven experience in building resilient, production-grade data pipelines with strict data quality and validation checks.

• Familiarity with running workloads in Databricks, Spark on Kubernetes, or other cloud/on-premises big data platforms.

• Working knowledge of the ML lifecycle and model serving (preferred).

• Familiarity with audience segmentation or look-alike modeling (preferred).

• Exposure to confidential computing, secure enclaves, homomorphic encryption, or similar privacy-preserving technologies (preferred).

• Proficiency in Rust (preferred).

• Skills in data-platform management, including operating Spark clusters, job schedulers, or orchestration frameworks like Airflow, Dagster, or custom schedulers (preferred).
