This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Foster engineering innovation throughout the organization.
• Keep up-to-date with industry developments and emerging technologies.
• Lead research initiatives to investigate new tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
• Direct the strategy and implementation for a specific team or a group of teams.
• Tackle complex and critical challenges, finding effective solutions until resolution.
• Partner with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and architect, design, and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Perform comprehensive architectural reviews to influence and refine Webflow’s technology stack.
• Serve as a benchmark for engineering innovation in the industry by collaborating with partners, customers, and investors.
• Guide and mentor fellow engineers, promoting a culture of ongoing learning.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• An AI-first mindset as your default approach.
• A genuine enthusiasm for creating internal platforms where agents are prioritized; focus on designing APIs, guardrails, and observability that enable seamless collaboration between humans and autonomous systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript and TypeScript, along with hands-on experience with modern web technologies like React, Node.js, Tailwind.css, and frameworks such as Next.js and Remix.
• Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, coupled with extensive API design experience.
• A profound understanding of monorepo management, including the architectural patterns necessary to maintain performance and developer satisfaction at scale.
• Ability to balance Developer Experience (DX) with platform-native technologies, ensuring our stack (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, etc.) remains modern and sustainable.
• Dedication to creating "paved paths" and self-service capabilities that empower teams to bundle, build, and deploy code—both within and outside the monorepo—efficiently.
• Skill in connecting various engineering teams, working with senior leaders to design high-quality solutions that balance speed, security, and stability.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive team culture and mentoring engineers to promote a high-performance, continuous-learning environment.
