Staff Software Engineer, Developer Infrastructure

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of essential developer infrastructure platforms, encompassing CI/build systems and deployment orchestration, from the design phase through to production operation.

• Pinpoint high-impact issues and transform vague challenges into well-defined technical roadmaps.

• Enhance build and CI wall time, deployment speed and safety, as well as developer feedback latency.

• Spearhead strategic cross-functional initiatives, including extensive platform migrations, across multiple teams.

• Manage SLOs, observability, and on-call responsibilities for developer infrastructure.

• Design systems that ensure rapid recovery and prevent company-wide incidents.

• Collaborate with engineering customers, engineering managers, and leadership to shape the technical strategy and promote organization-wide adoption.

• Guide engineers through design reviews, collaborative work, and shared ownership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in building and operating production distributed systems.

• Proficient in Go or a similar systems programming language.

• Direct experience with CI/CD, build systems, or deployment tools.

• Proven history of designing and delivering high-impact backend or platform systems.

• Experience managing systems from vague problem statements through to long-term production operation.

• Demonstrated technical leadership in cross-team initiatives.

• Experience establishing architectural direction and fostering organization-wide alignment.

• Extensive operational expertise with production systems where downtime has significant repercussions.

• Experience designing for reliability, observability, and swift recovery.

• Ability to facilitate alignment on ambiguous, cross-functional challenges.

• Capability to elevate the technical standard through mentorship and design reviews.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Responsible utilization of generative AI with human oversight.
