This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead significant cross-functional initiatives within the engineering department from inception to production.
• Take ownership of the cross-team impacts of projects, decompose tasks, and drive initiatives in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively throughout the organization.
• Align the architecture at the organizational level.
• Define and advocate for best practices across teams within the organization.
• Influence the product roadmap and develop impactful, customer-centric products.
• Execute lean methodologies with iterative processes and feedback mechanisms to deliver business value.
• Shape the engineering vision while managing data models and the toolchain for the data platform.
• Build and sustain robust batch and streaming data pipelines utilizing cloud technologies and distributed systems.
• Create tools and processes to deploy configuration data and self-service utilities.
• Improve monitoring systems for better infrastructure visibility and failure detection.
• Become a subject matter expert on various datasets and their associated tools.
• Ensure data privacy and security governance in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Advocate for a scalable and maintainable data platform that meets evolving business requirements.
• Grasp business priorities and timelines, execute impactful initiatives, communicate objectives, and establish expectations among engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product, AI, infrastructure, health systems integration, and business intelligence teams.
• Manage technical debt while mentoring engineers across various functions.
• Develop a technical strategy and a stepwise plan to transform legacy data pipelines into a coherent, modular, and reusable data platform.
• Over 10 years of experience in the field.
• Extensive background in driving technical projects, prioritizing tasks, identifying dependencies, and facilitating technical decisions across teams.
• Profound expertise in SQL, data analysis, and data modeling.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud computing environments.
• Experience with data processing technologies such as Spark or Flink for batch and micro-batch analytics.
• Ability to promote and implement data mesh design principles in building data products.
• Demonstrated success in designing scalable, reliable, maintainable, and efficient systems.
• Proficient in programming (Python or other languages).
• Knowledge of the appropriate application of AI-assisted development tools.
• Proficient in building infrastructure utilizing major cloud providers like AWS.
• Experience with infrastructure as code solutions, such as Terraform.
• Eagerness to learn and delve deeply into the clinical data domain.
• Customer obsession as a fundamental leadership principle.
