This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the leading technical authority for SimSpace's core frontend, overseeing architectural decisions and the technical roadmap for shared UI systems.
• Direct major frontend projects from inception to completion—gathering requirements, designing architecture, and delivering results—while establishing clear goals, priorities, and technical direction.
• Carefully manage architectural choices and address technical and UX debt, ensuring a balance between long-term sustainability and immediate delivery needs.
• Set and uphold frontend technical standards concerning code quality, performance, testing, and documentation.
• Guide and mentor Design Engineers and frontend engineers, exemplifying strong craftsmanship, collaboration, and practical approaches.
• Design, construct, enhance, and sustain SimSpace's design system (e.g., Monorail) and higher-order component libraries, focusing on consistency, accessibility, responsiveness, and performance.
• Actively contribute to the codebase, ensuring that shared systems maintain alignment between design (Figma) and implementation (code, Storybook).
• Review and curate contributions from fellow engineers to shared UI libraries, upholding high standards for UX quality and code integrity.
• Serve as a technical partner to UX Designers—offering feasibility insights, implementation advice, and UI engineering input early in the design phase.
• Champion accessibility (a11y) best practices at both the component and system levels.
• Identify and resolve UX and UI quality challenges—such as visual discrepancies, interaction gaps, and usability issues—throughout the product.
• Conduct code reviews and deliver constructive feedback to ensure quality, performance, and compliance with standards.
• Over 8 years of professional experience in frontend, UX, or closely related engineering, demonstrating a history of leading technical projects from start to finish.
• Extensive knowledge in TypeScript and React—including modern component patterns, state management, and performance—sufficient to guide architectural direction for shared systems.
• Experience in developing and maintaining design systems or shared UI libraries that are utilized by multiple teams.
• Strong understanding of accessibility (a11y) standards and the ability to implement them in practical interfaces.
• Proven experience in writing well-tested and well-documented UI code designed for reuse and scalability.
• Demonstrated capability to collaborate effectively with designers, product managers, and engineers across various teams.
• Base salary range: $185,000 – $260,000
