Staff Software Engineer – Collaborative Web Platform

Posted 6 days ago

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ In this role as a Staff Engineer, you will serve as both a technical leader and a hands-on creator.

β€’ Your responsibilities will span the entire stack β€” from the APIs and real-time synchronization services that drive the platform's backend, to the visual editing interfaces and component systems that content teams use daily.

β€’ You will closely collaborate with product and design teams to shape the system architecture, make decisions on build versus buy, establish engineering standards, and guide a small, focused team toward significant milestones.

β€’ Develop backend services that enable collaborative editing, conflict resolution, and content delivery, ensuring reliable operation at scale within a distributed cloud infrastructure.

β€’ Create frontend systems that facilitate visual, real-time editing experiences, including page builders and publishing workflows.

⛳️ Requirements

β€’ Over 10 years of comprehensive software engineering experience, with a proven history of ownership throughout the entire product lifecycle.

β€’ Authentic full-stack expertise β€” you have successfully launched production systems on both the backend (APIs, data services, cloud infrastructure) and frontend (interactive UIs, component systems, browser performance).

β€’ Familiarity with real-time or collaborative systems, including content editing, multiplayer applications, event-driven architectures, or live data synchronization.

β€’ Proficient in cloud-native technologies: comfortable designing and managing services in GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, or Azure, with experience in containerization and contemporary deployment pipelines.

β€’ Strong API design skills: you possess well-defined views on REST, GraphQL, and event-driven interfaces, and you know when to utilize each appropriately.

β€’ Expertise in frontend architecture: you comprehend component modeling, state management, rendering performance, and the browser platform at a level that exceeds mere framework knowledge.

β€’ A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Competitive compensation and equity plan within the industry

β€’ Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Sick Leave (PSL), and 11 Paid Company Holidays

β€’ Comprehensive medical coverage (Extended health care, dental, vision)

β€’ High-quality equipment provided

β€’ On-site workspace located in Vancouver, BC, Canada

β€’ Monthly allowance dedicated to wellness, reading, and access to LinkedIn Learning for ongoing development

β€’ Team-oriented and company-wide events and activities that inspire, educate, and foster a sense of community
