Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Marketplace/App Experience

📋 Description

• Accountable for defining the technical strategy for your team over a yearly timeframe and assisting your team in aligning it with critical projects that impact the business.

• Work collaboratively across teams throughout the product development lifecycle to guarantee that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are effectively understood and managed.

• Serve as a force-multiplier for your team by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.

• Assume responsibility for your team’s operations and availability by ensuring the implementation of appropriate monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting to support ongoing operations and on-call efforts.

• Cultivate a culture of quality and accountability within your team by establishing code review and design standards, and promoting them beyond your team through documentation and technical discussions.

• Assist in nurturing talent within your team by offering feedback and guidance, leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• A proven history of building highly available distributed systems utilizing technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• Proficiency in developing consumer experiences with UI frameworks such as React.

• At least 2 years of experience in search or related recommendation engines.

• Experience in delivering significant features, system components, or phasing out existing functionality in a system through the creation of a technical and execution plan. You produce high-quality code that is easily comprehensible and usable by others.

• Ability to thrive in uncertain conditions, comfortable transitioning from low-level language idioms to the architecture of large systems.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.

• This role requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline.
