Staff Software Engineer, Backend – Ledger Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• You will be tasked with establishing the technical strategy for your team over a one-year horizon, while also assisting in connecting it with crucial projects that impact the business.

• You will engage in collaboration across various teams during the product development lifecycle, working alongside product management, design, and analytics to ensure that technical sustainability, risks, and trade-offs are well recognized and managed.

• You will serve as a force multiplier for your team by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational procedures.

• You will take charge of your team’s operations and availability, ensuring that appropriate monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are established to support ongoing operations and on-call responsibilities.

• You will cultivate a culture of quality and ownership within your team by establishing code review and design standards, and promoting these standards beyond your team through your writing and technical presentations.

• You will assist in developing talent within your team by offering feedback and guidance while leading by example.

⛳️ Requirements

• You possess over 8 years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems utilizing languages such as Python or Kotlin.

• You have a proven history of creating highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.

• You have experience in financial systems, ledgering, treasury, or related fields where data precision and system reliability are paramount.

• You have a track record of delivering significant features, system components, or deprecating existing functionalities through the establishment of a technical and execution plan. You write high-quality code that is easy for others to understand and utilize.

• You excel in ambiguous situations and are adept at transitioning from low-level language idioms to the architecture of large systems to grasp their functionality.

• Your growth and impact trajectory indicates that you have mastered the art of gathering and iterating on feedback from both your engineering and cross-functional peers.

• You possess strong verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
