Staff Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Lithuania.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and sustain essential reliability components, including HTTP rate limiters, internal database schema migration tools, circuit breakers, and distributed caching with Redis.

• Diagnose intricate production problems, enhance PostgreSQL performance, and ensure our distributed systems operate efficiently and reliably under heavy loads.

• Spearhead initial investigations during major production incidents: pinpoint probable root causes, evaluate the impact, and suggest mitigation strategies.

• Develop scalable, reusable tools and frameworks that empower other engineering teams to create more resilient services.

• Utilize AI-driven tools and coding agents to speed up development, analyze system architectures, and automate repetitive or error-prone tasks.

• Promote reliability best practices throughout the engineering team by sharing expertise, reviewing designs, and establishing high technical benchmarks.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive expertise in Java/JVM with a focus on building scalable, high-performance backend systems;

• Strong grasp of distributed systems principles, encompassing high availability, CAP theorem, and fault tolerance.

• In-depth experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and key-value/non-relational storage solutions (Redis).

• Practical knowledge of containerization and cloud-native environments, including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Direct experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.

• Capability to operate independently with minimal oversight, employing critical thinking to challenge assumptions and verify your own decisions.

• Proficient written and verbal English skills suitable for collaborating in an international engineering context.
