This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Design and implement scalable backend and AI platform functionalities that support GenAI, AI agents, analytics, experimentation, and intelligent automation.

• Develop production-ready APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and orchestration services utilizing Python, FastAPI, Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native technologies.

• Create resilient event-driven architectures, asynchronous services, and integrations capable of handling high-scale workloads.

• Oversee the complete software lifecycle, encompassing design, development, testing, CI/CD, deployment, observability, and reliability.

• Set standards for API design, security, performance, and distributed systems.

• Conduct architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and guide technical direction.

• Collaborate with engineering, data science, ML, and product teams to implement AI solutions at a scale suitable for Walmart.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with 3 years of experience in an analytics-related role; or

• A Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with 1 year of experience in an analytics-related role; or

• 5 years of experience in an analytics or related field.

• Extensive knowledge in Python backend engineering, including FastAPI, asynchronous programming, APIs, microservices, and production-quality distributed systems.

• Significant experience with Kubernetes, Docker, cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, and scalable infrastructure.

• Proven experience in designing highly available, fault-tolerant, event-driven systems utilizing messaging, caching, and modern data stores.

• Practical experience in building GenAI/AI platforms, agent backends, LLM integrations, orchestration, retrieval, and streaming services.

• Strong understanding of API security, observability, performance enhancement, testing, and reliability engineering.

• Staff-level technical leadership capabilities, including making architecture decisions, conducting design reviews, setting engineering standards, and providing mentorship.

• Capacity to collaborate across engineering, ML, data science, and product teams.
