This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee the design and long-term technical roadmap, modernizing legacy systems into a contemporary, distributed microservices architecture that accommodates global scalability.
• Set an example by leveraging AI coding assistants to streamline boilerplate, produce comprehensive test suites, and facilitate rapid prototyping.
• Promote technical excellence across various teams, making essential architectural choices that balance swift feature innovation with top-notch reliability and security.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to transform intricate global telecommunications regulations and customer demands into refined, developer-centric APIs and application workflows.
• Mentor and elevate senior and staff engineers, nurturing a culture of technical curiosity, ownership, and ongoing learning.
• Proactively identify and address technical risks, guiding the team through complex production incidents while emphasizing long-term solutions.
• Articulate complex technical strategies to both executive leadership and engineering teams using high-quality design documents, RFCs, and presentations.
• 12+ years of experience in designing and developing highly available, high-scale, secure, mission-critical cloud-native enterprise distributed systems.
• Expert proficiency in Java or Go, with extensive knowledge of AWS ecosystems (Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, Kafka).
• Architectural expertise: Extensive experience with cloud-native infrastructure (preferably AWS), microservices patterns, and designing "five-nines" (99.999%) resilient systems.
• AI-native workflow: Proven experience utilizing AI tools to significantly expedite software delivery.
• API excellence: A successful history of constructing and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs focused on providing an exceptional developer experience.
• Data savvy: Familiarity with high-throughput data processing and storage solutions (SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka, or Spark).
• Infrastructure as code: Proficient in Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Leadership: Demonstrated capability to influence technical strategy across various teams and organizational boundaries without direct authority.
