This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Become an integral part of key initiatives or teams and deliver impactful product features utilizing advanced engineering methodologies.
• Prioritize a product-centric approach by taking ownership of outcomes, not just tasks, ensuring your contributions have a genuine effect on customers.
• Create, develop, and launch features comprehensively, from defining problems to production deployment.
• Integrate AI into your workflow, encompassing tasks such as writing specifications, generating code, evaluating results critically, and enhancing development processes.
• Demonstrate and practice augmented coding while upholding exceptional standards for code quality, testing, system architecture, and deployment assurance.
• Collaborate with engineers in their actual workflows to share practices through teamwork rather than mere instruction.
• Tackle ambiguous or high-stakes challenges when the way forward is uncertain.
• Make informed technical decisions with limited information and adapt when data or production realities suggest a more effective route.
• Contribute across the entire stack, including Node, TypeScript, React, SQL, and cloud-native services on AWS and GCP.
• Help shape the technical groundwork alongside feature development, including service boundaries, data flows, APIs, observability, reliability, and deployment strategies.
• Troubleshoot intricate issues across distributed systems and make architectural choices that remain valid beyond a single feature.
• Take ownership of production systems, including observability, reliability, deployment processes, postmortems, and on-call duties.
• Enhance and progress large, interconnected production codebases, showing understanding for legacy systems and the teams that support them.
• Influence technical direction within your team and contribute to wider engineering advancements across teams.
• Leave systems, practices, and teams in better condition than you found them.
• Over 10 years of professional software engineering experience in building and delivering significant products.
• Extensive proficiency in at least one modern typed web stack. We utilize Node, TypeScript, React, and SQL; depth of judgment and ability to transfer skills are more important than an exact technology match.
• Strong systems thinking, including architectural judgment across different domains, debugging across service boundaries, and making sound decisions under pressure.
• Proven experience in owning services from start to finish, including building, deploying, running, monitoring, observability, on-call support, and conducting postmortems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or similar environments.
• Strong instincts for production and experience in making decisions that maintain system health over time.
• Empathy for legacy systems and a thoughtful approach to modernizing large existing codebases while ensuring production stability.
• High standards for testing, including experience in establishing or enhancing testing protocols for teams.
• Ability to navigate and improve extensive, existing codebases efficiently.
• Comfort in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities, loose structures, and varied responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of bridging engineering depth, product requirements, and business context.
• Experience in cross-functional collaboration with Product and Design as true partners.
• A product-oriented mindset, beginning with customer problems, challenging assumptions, and linking technical choices to business results.
• Significant experience utilizing AI tools to enhance development workflows and outcomes, with tangible examples of quicker delivery, improved quality, reduced handoffs, or fundamentally different workflows.
• A history of mentoring, collaborating, and elevating fellow engineers, influencing without direct authority.
