This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Provide technical leadership across various engineering teams.
• Drive technical strategy across the organization and spearhead initiatives that cross teams, products, and domains.
• Define the architectural direction and guide long-term technical investments.
• Navigate through ambiguity, resolve competing priorities, and build consensus among stakeholders.
• Design and enhance AI development practices while contributing to the creation of AI-driven products.
• Establish architecture for large-scale distributed systems that encompass services, domains, and business capabilities.
• Ensure consistency across APIs, event-driven systems, cloud infrastructure, reliability, security, observability, and operational excellence.
• Set engineering standards and conduct architectural reviews.
• Advocate for AI-assisted development, automated testing, observability, continuous delivery, and platform engineering.
• Mentor senior engineers and technical leads through coaching and design mentorship.
• Lead initiatives focused on improving reliability, resiliency, security, and operational maturity.
• Define best practices for observability, production diagnostics, AI evaluation, latency budgets, cost optimization, incident response, resiliency, and governance.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership, product management, solution architecture, security, platform engineering, infrastructure, and AI practitioners.
• Over 8 years of experience in designing and building production software systems, with substantial experience leading large-scale technical initiatives.
• Proven experience in driving architecture across multiple teams, services, or business domains.
• Extensive experience in building cloud-native distributed systems.
• Experience in designing and operating production AI systems, including those powered by LLMs and agentic workflows.
• Experience in creating reusable engineering platforms, frameworks, libraries, or shared infrastructure that have been adopted across multiple teams.
• Expertise in APIs, event-driven architectures, and highly available distributed systems.
• Experience in establishing engineering standards, architectural patterns, and operational best practices.
• Ability to lead technical direction through influence rather than direct management.
• Understanding of AI operational concerns, including evaluation, model selection, latency optimization, cost management, observability, governance, and safety.
• Experience in designing AI development workflows using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, and platform design.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to mentor senior engineers and enhance engineering organizations.
• Strong systems thinking and an outcome-oriented mindset.
• Ideally, experience with enterprise AI platforms such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, and Databricks.
• Ideally, familiarity with programming languages such as C# (.NET), Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, or similar.
• Ideally, experience with tools and platforms like Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CDK, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, platform modernization, cloud migration, or working in regulated industries.
