Staff Software Development Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Utah.

📋 Description

• Lead the creation, development, and execution of cutting-edge digital solutions aimed at enhancing member experiences.

• Design and construct cloud-native applications based on microservices architecture.

• Utilize event-driven architecture, contemporary technology stacks, and advancing AI technologies.

• Collaborate with teams in Digital, Data and Analytics, and Platform Engineering.

• Contribute to the technical direction and influence digital engineering projects.

• Mentor colleagues and collaborate with architects and product teams.

• Transform business needs into scalable and maintainable solutions.

• Manage the entire software lifecycle from design to deployment and operations.

• Establish technical standards, patterns, frameworks, and best practices.

• Lead or define the vision for projects or features.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of software engineering experience with a focus on enterprise-level digital solutions.

• More than 4 years of practical experience with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.

• Strong expertise in asynchronous programming and server-side application development.

• At least 4 years of experience in building and deploying cloud-based solutions, preferably with AWS.

• Experience in designing, developing, and deploying scalable microservices-based applications.

• Proficient in unit testing, integration testing, and code review methodologies.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch, and MongoDB, including data modeling and query optimization.

• Familiarity with event-driven services, message brokers, and event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.

• Experience in developing RESTful APIs, middleware, and routing using frameworks like Express.

• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, including cloud-native database services.

• Awareness of emerging AI technologies and their practical applications in software development.

• Experience mentoring engineers and conducting work reviews and evaluations.

• Capability to establish standards, patterns, frameworks, or best practices.

• Ability to lead or define the vision for a project or feature.

• Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, particularly in deploying and managing microservices on AWS.

• Preferred: experience with serverless architectures and cloud-native design patterns.

• Preferred: familiarity with open-source frameworks and contemporary development tools.

• Preferred: working knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

• Preferred: ability to effectively collaborate in cross-functional teams.

• Preferred: strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Preferred: excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; alternatively, a high school diploma plus 4 years of relevant work experience.
