This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.
β’ Lead the development of mobile experiences for Slack, impacting millions of users daily.
β’ Manage intricate, ambiguous, cross-departmental projects from technical investigation to production implementation and ongoing evolution.
β’ Direct feature prototyping to shape the mobile user experience for Slackβs most significant opportunities.
β’ Collaborate with Product and Design teams to balance user requirements, technical limitations, and sustainable maintenance.
β’ Impact engineering decisions beyond your team through technical guidance, product evaluations, and mentorship.
β’ Establish and promote best practices for mobile feature development and operational excellence throughout the engineering department.
β’ Guide senior engineers and engage with the wider mobile engineering community.
β’ Define unclear challenges, align stakeholders, and transition from concepts to functional prototypes to delivered experiences.
β’ Work alongside Backend and fellow mobile engineers on innovative initiatives from inception to completion.
β’ A relevant technical degree is mandatory.
β’ At least 8 years of professional experience in software engineering.
β’ Extensive experience in developing intricate, high-quality Android applications at scale.
β’ Proven ability to navigate organizational boundaries to launch new initiatives, prototype pathways to production, and realign the organization.
β’ Experience in dynamic environments such as startups, incubators, or zero-to-one teams within larger enterprises.
β’ Demonstrated success in leading large, ambiguous, cross-organizational technical projects with substantial business impact.
β’ In-depth knowledge of the Kotlin framework and contemporary Android development practices.
β’ Strong understanding of Android architecture, application lifecycle, concurrency, networking, and performance enhancement.
β’ Proven capacity to influence both product and technical directions while ensuring alignment among executive stakeholders and various teams.
β’ A proactive approach to ownership, execution, and continuous improvement, with the ability to prioritize impactful work.
β’ Preferred: Familiarity with Jetpack Compose and modern Android architectural patterns.
β’ Preferred: Knowledge of Combine Concurrency (async/await, actors) and dependency injection frameworks like Needle or Resolver.
β’ Preferred: Experience in leading large-scale product launches, feature developments, or product transformations.
β’ Preferred: Background in utilizing research, usability testing, data analysis, and experimentation.
β’ Preferred: Contributions to open-source projects or recognition of technical leadership within the Android community.
β’ Preferred: Experience in developing collaboration, productivity, messaging, AI, or enterprise software solutions.
