This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Take charge of the Vegetation Intelligence roadmap, encompassing the ML models that generate our risk data and the products that translate it into actionable insights for customers.
• Enhance our detection models and integrate their outputs into Overstory’s comprehensive outage and ignition risk models.
• Drive the increase of actionable insights: conduct user research, align priorities with the operational decisions made by customers, and ensure that our releases lead to substantial actions in the field.
• Transition the roadmap from a focus on scaling and technical aspects to a customer-centric approach, all while maintaining the technical excellence that has brought us this far.
• Collaborate closely with data scientists and ML engineers to convert model capabilities into valuable shipped products, while establishing clear standards for what constitutes a successful model in production.
• Investigate how feedback from customers and end users, such as arborists, can enhance model performance over time.
• Maintain clear and frequent communication with the broader product and engineering teams, ensuring that trade-offs, model limitations, and priorities are transparent.
• Engage in shaping Overstory’s overarching product strategy, ensuring that Vegetation Insights aligns with the future direction of the entire product.
• Minimum of 8 years in product management, demonstrating both expertise and speed in delivering results.
• Practical experience in developing and launching products driven by machine learning models. You possess a deep understanding of the model lifecycle, from building and training to evaluating and enhancing, allowing you to discuss model performance and trade-offs effectively with data scientists and ML engineers.
• Proven ability to convert a scaling- or technical-focused roadmap into one that is driven by customer needs, including conducting user research and translating findings into product priorities.
• Experience in a dynamic startup environment, comfortable with uncertainty and making decisions before everything is fully outlined.
• A history of developing B2B products that customers depend on regularly, particularly those that derive value from transforming data or model outputs into actionable decisions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You provide clarity on technical trade-offs and guide teams as priorities evolve.
• Experience in leading product strategy and roadmap development, fostering consensus across product, engineering, and data science teams.
