Staff Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Bulgaria.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and enhance the CI/CD platform utilizing GitHub Actions with self-hosted RunsOn runners, while transitioning and refining Jenkins Next.

• Develop and sustain AWS Infrastructure as Code through Terraform, Terragrunt, and Terramate.

• Create delivery pipelines that prioritize security by default, incorporating branch protection, PR approval rulesets, SOPS for secrets management, and production approval workflows.

• Transition from IAM users and long-lived access keys to IAM roles.

• Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, including open ports, unmanaged credentials, and absent guardrails.

• Collaborate with Kubernetes/EKS, Helm, ArgoCD, Grafana, Prometheus, and Backstage.

• Assess and enhance current Terraform configurations, pipelines, and AWS infrastructure.

• Share responsibilities for support and triage, while aiming to decrease them through the use of automation and tools.

• Make architectural choices, weigh trade-offs, and adapt to evolving requirements and production challenges.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive AWS knowledge with significant hands-on CI/CD experience (GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins).

• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; experience with Terragrunt and Terramate is advantageous.

• Practical experience with Kubernetes/EKS, including Helm and GitOps using ArgoCD.

• A security-focused mindset that encompasses IAM, secrets management, network exposure, and least-privilege access principles.

• Experience in DevSecOps is highly desirable.

• Capability to design solutions and adjust when faced with changing constraints.

• Sound judgment in handling edge cases, traffic surges, regional outages, and incidents.

• Proficient and intentional use of AI tools, with an understanding of their outputs and associated trade-offs.
