Staff Machine Learning Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Leadership to establish and implement the technical vision for recommendation engines, matching algorithms, and the ML entity representation platform.

• Design and take ownership of high-scale ML systems for predicting dynamic interactions, ranking candidates, and retrieving candidates/jobs.

• Address matching and recommendation challenges within a two-sided marketplace, which includes real-time intent prediction, bilateral relevancy, cold-start issues, and feedback loops.

• Provide mentorship and guidance to Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists across various teams.

• Manage end-to-end model ownership, from exploration and feature engineering to distributed training, offline/online evaluation, A/B testing, and optimization of real-time latency.

• Report directly to the Director of Recommendation Systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of professional experience in developing and deploying machine learning models within large-scale production environments.

• A proven history of architecting and delivering end-to-end ML solutions that serve production traffic at scale.

• In-depth knowledge of Recommendation Systems, Personalization, Ranking & Retrieval, or Interaction Prediction.

• Strong foundational skills in software engineering.

• Practical expertise with PyTorch and TensorFlow.

• Experience in providing technical leadership and mentorship across engineering and product teams.

• Solid background in statistical modeling, online experimentation/A/B testing methodologies, and the design of offline metrics.

• Preferred: familiarity with two-sided marketplaces, supply/demand liquidity, bilateral matching algorithms, dynamic pricing, or auction-based models.

• Preferred: experience with Two-Tower Neural Networks, Graph Neural Networks, Transformer-based retrieval models, or Contextual Bandits.

• Preferred: knowledge of modern MLOps architectures and distributed training frameworks.
