Staff Fullstack Engineer, Ruby/Vue.js

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada, +1 more country.

📋 Description

• Design and develop full-stack features throughout the purchasing journey.

• Lead the technical design of new purchasing capabilities and ensure a cohesive purchase experience.

• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to transform purchasing requirements into robust, well-tested technical solutions.

• Ensure that purchase flows properly and securely integrate with downstream billing and CRM systems.

• Establish and maintain engineering standards for code quality, testing, rollout safety, and monitoring.

• Mentor engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback during merge request reviews.

• Identify and mitigate technical debt and architectural risks within the purchase experience.

• Participate in incident response for issues related to purchases.

• Work alongside Sales, Finance, Information Technology, and Support on workflows related to purchasing, billing, provisioning, and utilization.

• Engage in asynchronous planning and retrospectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Professional experience in full-stack engineering, covering both frontend and backend development.

• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails and Vue.js.

• Experience in leading the technical direction for a product area and delivering comprehensive, iterative solutions.

• Background in building or maintaining transactional or checkout-style flows, preferably in billing, e-commerce, or subscription services.

• Strong inclination towards safe, incremental delivery practices.

• Ability to communicate complex technical, architectural, and organizational issues clearly and concisely.

• Proficiency in written and spoken English adequate for success in a remote, primarily asynchronous work setting.

• Alignment with GitLab’s values and a dedication to adhering to them.

• Familiarity with third-party billing or CRM systems like Zuora, Salesforce, or Stripe is advantageous.
