This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Contribute high-quality production code to GitLab’s products and related systems.
• Develop bug fixes, new features, integrations, tools, and enhancements for strategic customer outcomes.
• Adhere to GitLab's product and engineering processes, including issue identification, merge request submission, testing, review, documentation, and maintainability.
• Transform field-discovered obstacles into sustainable product enhancements, reference architectures, documentation, and repeatable implementation strategies.
• Engage with key customers when issues related to adoption, retention, executive confidence, or public trust arise.
• Analyze complex technical issues related to GitLab functionality, customer architecture, Git internals, CI/CD, APIs, observability, infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments.
• Facilitate collaboration among Product, Engineering, SRE, Support, SA, CSA, CSM, Professional Services, and customer technical teams to reach resolutions.
• Promote governed, measurable, and production-focused adoption of the GitLab Duo Agent Platform.
• Address AI adoption challenges involving governance, auditability, security, compliance, operating models, workflows, and integrations.
• Develop reusable adoption strategies for agentic SDLC and AI-enhanced development.
• Create technical narratives, Well Architected Frameworks, whitepapers, webinars, reference architectures, and adoption frameworks.
• Transform customer insights into product advancements and company-wide thought leadership.
• Stabilize risks associated with strategic customer adoption or retention and mitigate permanent FDE dependencies.
• Staff-level experience in building, operating, or enhancing complex production software systems.
• Capability to contribute to large, mature product codebases with rigorous standards for testing, maintainability, performance, and security.
• Proficient in Ruby/Rails or Go, with the ability to make direct contributions to GitLab’s products.
• Experienced in diagnosing system behavior across application code, data storage, infrastructure, observability, networking, APIs, and customer usage patterns.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps workflows, including Git, merge requests, CI/CD, security protocols, compliance, and enterprise software delivery.
• Experience working with strategic customers or senior technical stakeholders in ambiguous, high-impact scenarios.
• Ability to coordinate across Product, Engineering, Support, SRE, SA, CSA, CSM, Professional Services, and customer teams without formal authority.
• Excellent written communication skills for crafting technical narratives, architecture guidance, and reusable field/product resources.
• Sound judgment in distinguishing between reusable product/platform work and customer-specific customization.
• Relevant technologies and domains include PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, Git internals, GitLab CI/CD and Runner architecture, Kubernetes, containers, Terraform, Linux, networking, observability, performance analysis, Vue, TypeScript, APIs, automation, DevSecOps governance, security, and compliance.
• Strongly preferred: Experience with GitLab platform, Ruby on Rails, Go, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, Vue, TypeScript, Kubernetes, Docker, Linux, observability tools, Git internals, AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, AI governance, model evaluation, and distributed systems.
