Staff Forward Deployed Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and prototype AI agent systems along with agentic workflows that automate data governance processes and complex reasoning tasks within Alation's platform.

• Interact directly with enterprise stakeholders to gain insights into data ecosystems and governance challenges.

• Convert requirements into technical roadmaps aligned with Alation's Knowledge Layer capabilities.

• Develop BI and ML pipelines that transform cataloged data into actionable insights and demonstrate return on investment (ROI).

• Collaborate with Deployment Strategists to link technical efforts to business outcomes and achieve customer value metrics.

• Contribute to the development of repeatable solution patterns, accelerators, reusable components, and internal tools.

• Relay customer patterns, edge cases, and AI use cases back to Product and Engineering teams.

• Assist in competitive analysis and provide insights on customer environments to GTM and Product teams.

• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior field engineers and customer technical teams regarding Alation architecture and AI best practices.

• Work cross-functionally with field, Product, and GTM teams as an individual contributor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with significant exposure to customer-facing technical roles such as Solutions Engineer, FDE, or similar positions.

• Practical experience with LLM frameworks and AI tools, including orchestration patterns, vector databases, and RAG architectures.

• Proven track record in delivering BI and data pipeline solutions.

• Strong skills in SQL.

• Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Comprehensive knowledge of enterprise data governance, metadata management, and distributed systems architecture.

• Capability to swiftly transition from unclear requirements to functional prototypes and refine based on customer feedback.

• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
