Staff Forward Deployed Engineer – Applied AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with Rula's business and clinical teams to gain insights into their operational processes.

• Identify manual workflows and create software solutions tailored to their needs.

• Develop and deliver tools utilized weekly by teams, frequently transforming tasks that take six to eight hours into processes completed in under thirty minutes.

• Stay engaged with teams until they are proficient in using each tool independently.

• Convert insights gained into reusable components for future teams.

• Implement privacy-by-design principles, as the organization serves mental health patients.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 8 years of experience delivering production-quality software systems with complete ownership of results.

• Demonstrated success in launching tools or products that are regularly used by clients or business teams, supported by usage metrics.

• Extensive experience in understanding operational workflows through methods such as observation, interviews, or data analysis prior to software design.

• Daily engagement with coding agents, including specifying requirements, testing, and reviewing output differences.

• Strong evaluation practices, including the use of test sets and evaluations.

• Familiarity with privacy-by-design standards, including the use of synthetic or masked data and separating clinical content from operational tools.

• Experience in developing custom measurement frameworks for tracking costs, usage, and impact.

• Direct involvement in being deployed to non-engineering business teams or external customer organizations.

• Practical experience in migrating systems across various LLM models while ensuring quality standards.

• Capability to integrate AI into complex business platforms with imperfect data/APIs, including CRM, billing, or scheduling systems.

• Proven history of mentoring non-engineering team members to independently build or adopt software workflows.

• Must reside in the United States; Rula does not currently hire in Hawaii.
