This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more country.
• Develop software that operates on millions of devices utilized by industrial and enterprise clients.
• Assess and choose hardware components.
• Initiate new hardware platforms, boards, prototypes, and sensors.
• Create systems to collect data and identify significant events.
• Organize recorded data for effective analysis across thousands of devices.
• Influence hardware decisions, including SoC, flash/RAM, and sensor selections.
• Configure I/O and establish SPI, I2C, UART, and BLE communications.
• Troubleshoot system initialization and validate hardware designs.
• Oversee peripheral drivers, secure bootloaders, device firmware updates, power management, and connectivity layers.
• Design protocols and hardware management for battery-operated sensors and gateways.
• Collaborate with product, full-stack, mobile, and quality engineers.
• Generate firmware data that is reliable and beneficial for dispatchers, fleet managers, and technicians.
• Lead design efforts, reviews, and engineering practices as a Staff-level force multiplier.
• Foster consensus among teams and deliver iteratively on a global scale.
• 8+ years of experience in developing firmware for resource-constrained systems delivered to actual customers.
• Proficiency in C.
• Extensive bare-metal and RTOS experience, such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
• Experience in making scheduling, memory, and timing decisions.
• Experience in bringing up new boards and untested hardware.
• Proficiency in SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and ADC.
• Ability to debug hardware-software interfaces.
• Experience utilizing oscilloscopes, network analyzers, or RF spectrum analyzers.
• Staff-level experience leading efforts across hardware, firmware, cloud, and quality from concept to final product.
• Ability to achieve consensus among teams.
• Capability to draft actionable design documents, review feedback, and conduct post-mortems.
• Ability to iterate rapidly with automated testing and maintainable code.
• Experience incorporating AI into daily workflows.
• Expertise in BLE, cellular IoT, embedded security, OTA/device firmware updates, Embedded Linux, CAN/J1939, Python, Bash, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and electronics manufacturing is a plus.
