Remotery

Staff Engineer, Syncro

Posted Jun 16

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Europe.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Take charge of the architecture and develop the essential low-latency code across Syncro (Rust).

β€’ Reduce latency by design: validator submission path, network routing/peering, node co-location, direct QUIC/TPU ingress.

β€’ Minimize latency in code: implement optimal algorithms and data structures, ensuring tight time/space complexity, and focus on language and OS-level performance (memory layout, allocations, cache, syscalls, lock-free concurrency).

β€’ Lead the implementation of multi-region rollouts on bare-metal and cloud platforms, strategically located near client trading venues.

β€’ Remove single points of failure by utilizing high availability (HA) and automatic failover mechanisms.

β€’ Automate secure, self-serve releases; take ownership of latency and uptime service level objectives (SLOs), observability, and alerting processes.

β€’ Elevate the technical standards through design and code reviews.

⛳️ Requirements

β€’ 8+ years of experience in building distributed backend/infrastructure, specifically with low-latency systems delivered to production.

β€’ Demonstrate proficiency in writing highly efficient code β€” focusing on algorithms and data structures, time/space complexity, and language-runtime plus OS-level performance (memory, cache, allocations, syscalls, concurrency).

β€’ In-depth knowledge of Solana internals β€” including validator/TPU, stake-weighted QoS (SWQoS), QUIC, shreds, and transaction landing. *Priority.*

β€’ Experience in trading, MEV, and market-data infrastructure β€” covering order flow, searchers, and latency-sensitive paths.

β€’ Expertise in a systems programming language β€” preferably production Rust (or C/C++/Go transitioning to Rust).

β€’ Proficiency in networking and latency tuning β€” involving TCP/QUIC, routing, peering, co-location, and kernel/NIC tuning.

β€’ Familiarity with production infrastructure β€” including Linux, bare-metal and cloud environments (GCP/AWS), Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

β€’ Experience with PostgreSQL; RabbitMQ/Kafka in high availability (HA) setups.

β€’ Proven track record of owning a complex system's architecture end-to-end.

β€’ Proficient in English (C1+); remote and asynchronous work environment.

🏝️ Benefits

β€’ Competitive salary in USD (with the option to receive payment in cryptocurrency).

β€’ Paid vacation and sick leave.

β€’ Well-being program.

β€’ Mental health care program.

β€’ Compensation for educational pursuits, including foreign language and professional development courses.

β€’ Equipment and co-working reimbursement program.

β€’ Opportunities to attend overseas conferences and engage with the community.
